Hangedman Recordings was a boutique, DIY cassette label I ran from 2011 to 2018. I specialized in releasing experimental, noise, drone and punk music from a variety of artists and bands.

Roll: Founder & Graphic Designer—Curating artists, Sourcing production of the cassettes themselves, Production and design of the J-card covers, Branding and Marketing.

The branding of Hangedman is based in occult practices such as Tarot, Alchemy and Kabbalah.

I designed many of the covers for the artists. Here is a selection of the tapes I designed.

Isenordal: Layout, Print Production

So great to work with amazing illustrators—the cover art was provided by the band and I was able to cut out one of the flowers for the inside to create some balance with the text.

Ak’Chamel: Layout, Image Manipulation (Photoshop), Print Production

Ak’Chamel from Houston gave me a lot of freedom in the layout of this one. The cover image is a photo I manipulated and felt encapsulated the atmosphere of the music, which is like some Lovecraftian ritual.

Pink Void / Knifecream split: Layout, Image curation, Print Production

This is a spit of my project, Knifecream with the incredible Pink Void. We wanted to keep this one pretty simple and I used basic color coding to keep it clear and minimal. The inside of the J-card was left blank intentionally—keep it simple…
